GIUSEPPE VERDI, KING OF POP

The greatest "pop" author in Italy was Maestro Giuseppe Verdi , whose name is also inextricably linked to the history of our country. And yet, while postponing his always current music, most young people today do not know him or remember him as an author of "classical" music, a genre reserved for an elite of the public.
This project aims to build a new bridge to bring closer to his work those who associate the name Verdi simply to a city "square" or to the past, but at the same time also to intrigue those who already love him while ignoring the human path that generated his greatness. .
Verdi is an absolutely "popular" author. An episode of the film "Casa Ricordi" tells that when it happened by chance in the riots between the crowd in turmoil and the soldiers who were about to shoot, everything stopped when they recognized him: the two opposing sides began to sing "Va Pensiero" and deposed the weapons. Whether this story was true or false, it is an emblematic sign that certifies the universal power of his compositions and the respect that everyone recognized for this genius of music.
On the other hand, there are many real anecdotes about his life remembered with mastery by Maurizio Garuti , author who has published numerous books and signed plays for Ivano Marescotti and Vito, in a show that, in addition to entertaining and thrilling, represents an artistic proposal of high value. didactic and cultural.
The proposed format is a theater-song piéce directed by Francesca Calderara , played by Franz Campi , who has already tried his hand at the genre on several occasions and who has reported numerous successes also as a musical author, Maurizia Cocchi, versatile actress particularly at ease in brilliant roles, and a highly experienced comedian-singer with a prestigious curriculum such as Eraldo Turra .
The arrangement of the Maestro's music, sometimes re-proposed in an ironic key and declined in modern musical genres, is entrusted to the pianist and percussionist Alice Zecchinelli

The text tells in an ironic and funny way the meeting of two old friends who in their youth played in a band. One has left the music to take refuge in safe employment while the other has lost his sense of reason and on alternate days he believes he is once Lucio Dalla, another Fred Buscaglione, yet another Lucio Battisti ... But in the moment of the meeting with the old friend turns into Giuseppe Verdi. And while he accompanies her to his place of work, he lets himself go to the memories alternating hilarious or painful anecdotes from the life of the Master. During the journey the couple is intercepted by a strange character, a precarious worker, a homeless man .. who is involved in the intertwining of the surreal delusions of the siroccato and finds himself interpreting some of Verdi's most famous arias with conviction.
And then the text also becomes a photograph of the discomfort of a group of people in difficulty, unfortunately increasingly numerous, who live in our metropolises in search of a dimension that allows them to exist and live in dignity.

Lightness, irony and social denunciation thus succeed in transforming a brilliant story into a powerful pass to enter the world of opera and in particular that of the genius of Giuseppe Verdi.
