From an idea of Giambattista Giocoli the project of Barber of Seville , told through images.
On May 25 the Japanese mangaka Tsukishiro Yūko he will illustrate the drawings made for this project and the public will be able to admire his technique in live painting on the music recorded by the Barbiere di Rossini.
Following, the soprano Yasuko Arimitsu will propose a suggestive selection of passages taken from Rossini's work and from the Japanese tradition.
The complete project de The comic barber it will be presented in August, as part of the summer festival SOUND ACTS… musical theater in summer! with live music.
The evening will be enriched by a Japanese aperitif, kindly offered by the restaurant Yuzuya from Bologna.
The event is promoted by NipPop: Words and Forms from Tokyo to Bologna , the annual festival dedicated to the pop cultures of contemporary Japan and promoted by the School of Languages of the University of Bologna.

The final project: some previews
Il Barbiere a fumetti , which by virtue of the collaboration with the Rossini Symphony Orchestra Pesaro from next summer will be staged and will go on tour throughout Italy, it will be an exceptional show in which the immediacy of the visual art and the expressiveness of the visual and sound interweaving update the Rossini masterpiece, returning an original version who knows how to speak to a young and contemporary audience.
From the Suite from Vincenzo Gambaro and with arrangements for chamber orchestra made by SOUND ACTS , a new score for 12 real parts is born: the work is stripped of the recitative parts to stage only the music, directed by Giambattista Giocoli , together with a scenographic backdrop on which the artist's original comics are projected Tsukishiro Yūko , who tell the story in images, under the direction of the dramaturg Gianluca Cheli .
Tsukishiro Yūko
Illustrator and mangaka, during her career she has created drawings for many science fiction, fantastic, horror and erotic novels collaborating with the most famous Japanese genre literature magazines (high circulation publications such as Shōsetsu NON, Mondai Shōsetsu and J-novel ) and the country's major publishing houses, including Fujimi Shobō, Kadokawa, Kōdansha, Tokuma Shoten and Square Enix. From January 14 to February 14, 2010, his works were exhibited in Italy in the exhibition Dall'ukiyo-e to contemporary illustration: great Japanese graphics, held in the halls of the Albertina Academy of Fine Arts in Turin. Among his latest manga are Tōrisugari no kaijiken (Supernatural cases that pass us by), released in 2016 by the publishing house Shūeisha Home-sha, and Teihon Shōkan no banmei-Goety (Authentic text of the barbarian names of evocation-Goety) , published in 2017 by Atelier Third. The latter, inspired by HP Lovecraft's Myths of Cthulhu, was also highly regarded by well-known writers of horror and supernatural literature Asamatsu Ken and Kikuchi Hideyuki.
On the occasion of the presentation of the Comic Book Barber project at the opening of NipPop 2017: Words and Forms from Tokyo to Bologna, Tsukishiro Yūko will be in Bologna: on the evening of May 25th he will be the protagonist of a meeting during which he will illustrate his work for this project, and the public will be able to admire his technique in a live painting on stage.
Giambattista Giocoli
He made his debut as a conductor in 2013, in the production of the S. Sondheim musical A Little Night Music, receiving critical and public acclaim. In the same year he founded the Baraccano Orchestra. In 2014 he directed I. Stravinsky's Histoire du Soldat (still on tour) and Sondheim's best known and most demanding musical, Sweeney Todd. In 2015 he produced the project on opera interludes and symphonies All'Opera! and in December he made his debut at the helm of the Toscanini Orchestra of Parma. In 2016 he made his debut with the project of the Fourth Symphony by G. Mahler and at the beginning of 2017 he staged the Popular songs project at the Teatro Duse in Bologna, with the voice of Cristina Zavalloni and Histoire du soldat with the voice of Ivano Marescotti .
Yasuko Arimitsu
Every year he plays joint concerts in renowned Japanese theaters such as Kanon (Kagoshima), Saneru (Kagoshima), JT Hall (Tokyo), Oji Hall (Tokyo), Grand Hill Ichigaya (Tokyo), and simultaneously participates in international opera singing workshops at the Opera Internship School of Pesaro and the Spanish one (Valencia). She trained with teachers of the caliber of Kyoko Tsukada, Franco Federici, Giuseppe Riva, Sergio Bertocchi and pianists such as Claudio Cirelli and Stefano Conticello, also joining the Circolo Lirico di Bologna. In 2011 he won the audition for the Opera La Bohème at the Cultural Association for classical music in Bellano (LC) and performed in Cremona in the concert in honor of Franco Federici together with the tenor Ivo Scarpellini. In recent years she has performed in numerous concerts on the Italian territory and in 2009 received the support of the Japanese Kirishima-kai Association for the realization of concerts-récital that see her as a protagonist.
