THE MOST WILD THIRST, THE MOST WILD HUNGER

musical monologue on the Resistance

The show is a "choral monologue". Roberto Mercadin i, alone on stage, evokes a glowing multitude of characters and stories.

Flashes tragic or hilarious, heroic or ridiculous, tender or merciless. The incredible story of the drunkard from Roversano or the poignant story of the unnamed German.

Because the Resistance and what followed, the origin and foundation of our Republic, was a dizzying tangle of different and often extreme things. Thus the eyes see the purest light, the darkest darkness.

The title mentions Fr Celan, a deported Jewish poet, but also recalls the Gospel of Matthew: “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for justice”. Here, the partisans had, perhaps, "the wildest hunger, the wildest thirst".
