THE CITIES OF MUSIC

The project intends to enhance the link between the cities of Bologna, Prague and Brno, through the figure of the composer Josef Mysliveček , known in Italy as “The Divine Bohemian”.

Mysliveček, born in Prague , had a very close relationship with Italy, in particular with Bologna , where he studied, like Mozart and in the same years, at the Royal Philharmonic Academy. After an intense career in Italian theaters, he ended his life in Rome , where he rests in the Basilica of San Lorenzo. By Mysliveček will be performed his octet for winds (transcribed for the occasion for Decimino of strings and winds).

Coming to the authors of the 20th century, Mládí is proposed, a composition for chamber orchestra by Leoš Janáček , who wrote this masterpiece recalling the years of his youth in Brno, where he lived part of his life and where he founded important musical institutions.

Finally, the sumptuous Nonetto by Bohuslav Martinû , a composer who was musically trained in Prague. He was among the artists forced to emigrate to France and then to America due to the war.

The concert will also be repeated at 20.30 at the  DAMSLab, within the MIA season - Musica Insieme in Ateneo - XXIII edition
