SOUND ACTS in collaboration with Bologna Jazz Festival
November 12, 5.30 pm
RADIO RHYTHM
voices and sounds from the ether
RADIO RITMO wants to remember the impressive communicative power of the radio in the 30s, when she was still the first woman on the communication scene. It is enough to recall the experience of Orson Wells' radio broadcast The war of the Worlds, which inspired this show, to get an idea of the extraordinary capacity of involvement of sounds and voices, still independent from the image. On October 30, 1938, that broadcast sparked panic, suggesting that an interplanetary conflict had started through an alien invasion of New York.
