" We have never sat crying on the shores of Babylon and our desire for culture is equal to our will to live ."
Viktor Ullmann, composer, who died in Auschwitz

If we ask ourselves in the depths of our hearts about what we human beings really need today, the only answer that arises spontaneously is simply: "human gestures". More and more in fact, it seems that we are moving away from our humanity.

For the "Day of Remembrance" we have chosen some pieces by composers with significant life experiences, with clear human values and openly witnessed by their actions.

In their compositions, through the language of music, feelings of suffering, pathos, melancholy due to the distance from their loved ones and loved ones are perceived, which also correspond to expressions of hope, love and indomitable longing for life.

We feel a sincere emotion to play, sing and listen to the notes and words of these authors, and it is like touching the bas-relief of their lives with the hand, marked by numerous cracks and fractures, to give the feeling that it can crumble from one moment to the next. 'other. But no, he remains imperishable, and still transmits his inexhaustible values and a stubborn faith of life and relationships that knows no second thoughts.

Ilse Weber, Ullmann, Eben, Bloch and Dvorak were not simply artists but real masters of life. The love they carried within themselves was not limited to their family circle, their nation or their religion but was a universal love that accompanied them everywhere and permeated everything.

In the musical program for the evening  of the "Day of Remembrance" we would like to re-propose the emotion of an encounter with these authors, the feeling of placing our hand for a moment on the rough surface of their life and receiving through their music a hug that will awaken in us dormant feelings and thoughts , that spark that warms the soul to the sacred fire of love that burns but does not consume.
